People are often complacent about the risk of fire and the damage it can cause to buildings and business not to mention life. Fire alarms often seen as an eyesore, but when they are required in an emergency their effectiveness is a matter of life and death.
There are many buildings which require a Fire Alarm by law including offices, commercial and industrial buildings and certain types of residential property that are managed by landlords and considered to be a House in Multiple Occupation (HMO).
There are 3 different types of Fire Alarm Systems.
For small installations a two wire fire alarm system is often proposed. This allows sounders to be installed onto the same circuit as the smoke detectors and therefore reduces the installation cost.
For medium sized installations a conventional fire alarm system should be considered. This means that the sounders and the smoke detectors are wired separately.
For large installations an analogue addressable fire alarm system is used. This is wired in a loop which incorporates all sounders and smoke detectors and each device is allocated a text description hence this allows the user to pin-point where the activation occurred.
